The History of the Insight Institute
Hundreds of organizations and thousands of people have benefited from the products developed by the Insight Institute. The Insight Institute, Inc., founded by Patrick Handley Ph.D., is a research and publishing company that develops training materials to help people communicate and work more effectively with others. The Institute has an extensive history of research and development in the areas of personality assessment and organizational development. Distribution has expanded internationally and selected materials have been translated into German, French, Spanish and Dutch.
The INSIGHT Inventory was developed over a ten-year period and the first version was completed in 1984. Independent data analysis, validity, and reliability research was done at the University of Kansas under the supervision of Dr. Tom Krieshock, Department of Counseling Psychology. After a second collection of norms and a factor analysis of the items, the new revised version was released in 1993. Various doctoral dissertations and masters theses have also been completed on the INSIGHT Inventory at the University of Kansas and continued independent research is encouraged.
